Humans

♦ Humans in this world are just like humans in the real world. They have no idea that supernatural creatures exist.

♦ You can make humans, however, that will become involved with the supernatural in some way (vampire pets, family members of supernaturals, etc). You can also make human characters that will eventually become a supernatural creature.

Werewolves

FORMS:

♣ Werewolves have three forms: their human form, their "war" form, which resembles Hollywood werewolf monsters, and their wolf form. Werewolves in wolf form are generally a good bit larger than your standard wolf, weighing in at between 150 and 250 pounds, depending on gender and age.

♣ In all forms werewolves have an enhanced sense of smell and hearing and good night vision, though these senses are even stronger in the war form and strongest in the wolf form.

♣ They are stronger than human in human form and crazy freak strong in war form.

♣ They are drawn to the call of the moon and are at their strongest when the moon is full. It is nearly impossible to ignore the moon's call and shift when it is full.

BIOLOGY

♣ They are extremely allergic to silver. Touching it burns them and silver that penetrates the skin causes poisoning.

♣ Werewolf healing does not push out any foreign objects that penetrate the skin/organs but rather heal around it, making it imperative to get silver bullets out immediately.

♣ They have a stronger immune system than humans but are still subject to some diseases (rabies, for example).

♣ Werewolves can be born or turned. In order to be turned you have to be practically mauled, so about 1 in 3 attempts at turning works.

♣ Werewolves age very slowly and if they manage to make it to old age, die ~200-300. Alphas tend to live longer because they draw on the energy of their packs.

♣ Born werewolves undergo their first change around puberty.

HIERARCHY

♣ Like wolves, they have a strict hierarchical structure with some wolves naturally much more dominant than others
(A non-dominant wolf can't become dominant, but two dominant wolves can fight over who's MORE dominant and this can change their place in the pack.)

♣ The pack is comprised of an alpha, beta, pack, and submissives. Occasionally there is an omega, who is treated like dirt and is the lowest of the low.

♣ Omegas are usually the most submissive kinds of people - forcing a dominant wolf into an omega position is generally considered cruel and dangerous. All packs treat their omegas differently, if they have them.

MATING/REPRODUCTION

♣ A werewolf and a human can have mortal children, but in order for a werewolf to have werewolf children, both parents have to be weres.

♣ Pregnancy is incredibly difficult for werewolves, as each shift raises the chance for miscarriage. The further along the fetus, the more likely miscarriage becomes when the were shifts.
  • Some werewolves deal with this by staying in wolf form after the first trimester or so. The baby continues to grow inside of them as a human fetus, but because of their large size as werewolves, this isn't usually a problem. Trying to deliver a human baby as a wolf is incredibly difficult, however, so most choose to take the risk of shifting back right before birth.
  • Other werewolves use witch magic or even have their alpha force them to stay human using pack magic throughout the pregnancy. The longer they go without answering the moon's call, the more their wolf starts going crazy and angry inside of them. This is actually more dangerous than staying a wolf, as many women kill themselves (and sometimes others) in the late trimesters.
  • Werewolf babies always look/feel human, as a born werewolf does not shift into a wolf for the first time until they hit puberty.

♣ Twins and triplets (usually fraternal) are much more common among werewolves than humans.

♣ If two werewolves claim one another as mates, this is a permanent status. There is a ceremony performed by an Alpha and the moon binds the two for life. They will be able to sense when the other is in pain/has extreme emotions. Even if one mate dies, the other cannot pick another true mate. They can have lovers/marry/whatever, but the mate bond is once and permanent.

Vampires

SURVIVAL

♥ Our vampires CAN NOT GO INTO THE SUNLIGHT. The older the vampire is, the longer it can withstand sunlight. Fledglings burn up completely in 30 seconds or so.

♥ They are not allergic to garlic or crosses.

♥ They can see their reflections.

♥ They can cross running water.

♥ Vampires are also influenced by the moon, but in reverse. Vampire magic is at it's strongest on the new moon.

♥ Like werewolves, vampires are allergic to silver as well, making it a valuable human weapon.

TURNING/HIERARCHY

♥ Turning a fledgling involves draining them nearly to death, then letting them feed on the vampire parent. The older/stronger the parent, the stronger the fledgling. Bloodlines are therefore pretty damn important. Some vampires are terrible at this and create really awful fledglings and/or ghouls.

♥ While vampires can have sex, they cannot have children.

♥ Vampires can be very territorial but often meet in social groups on neutral ground or ground belonging to the most powerful vampire.

BIOLOGY

♥ They have amazing vision and sense of smell. Their hearing is good but not nearly that of a werewolf's.

♥ Vampires are very strong, heal rapidly, and can be quite quick if they need to be.

♥ Vampires do not age once they are turned. They can live indefinitely, although many of the oldest ones go mad.

Ghouls

♠ Ghouls are sort of half-vampires, with some extra strength and sensory ability. They are bound to a vampire master.

♠ Ghouls can be created intentionally, by not draining the victim but getting them addicted to very small amounts of vampire blood. Ghouls actually take much longer than fledglings to make properly, but they tend to be insanely useful for their vampire sire as they tolerate the sun much better and can protect heir master during the daytime.

♠ Ghouls are bound to their sire unless the sire breaks the binding (VERY unusual) or the sire dies.

♠ Ghouls are not allergic to silver, they are sun-sensitive but it does not kill them, and they can be killed like any other human.

Witches

✗ In order to practice witchcraft, a witch must be born into an already magical bloodline. Mundane humans cannot practice craft.

✗ There are various methods of craft (ranging from earth magick to voodoo to the dark arts) but all magic requires sacrifice.

✗ Blood is one of the strongest components in magic. Light witches tend to use their own or find other forms of sacrifice, whereas dark witches have no problem using someone else's/animal blood.

✗ Witches can be male or female.

✗ A witch and a mundane human can have witch children or mundane children. Two witches will absolutely have witch children and they will generally be stronger.

✗ Spells have to be learned, ingredients are required, and witches can't just throw fire/read minds/disappear without preparation.

✗ Witches generally have the same lifespans as humans, though there have been exceptions for very powerful witches who used dark magic to extend their lives.

✗ NOTE: Witch applications will be held to a much higher scrutiny than any of the other races. There are only a few spaces open for them and we want to ensure that the best apps get those spaces.
